Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good condition, World War One flare pistol made by the Remington Arms Company at their factory in Bridgeport Connecticut between 1915 and 1918. It uses a 10 gauge flare in a 9 inch steel barrel designated the MARK III marked with all the manufacturer information across the top of the barrel as follows:
MARK III – THE REMINGTON ARMS – UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO. INCREMINGTON BRIDGEPORT WORKS – BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, U.S.A
The frame is constructed of brass and retains a wonderful mottled patina. The pistol retains its original hardwood grips. The frame and the barrel unfortunately do not have matching serial numbers. It could be a period replacement or someone’s “restoration” attempt by replacing the barrel. This design features a ”spur” trigger, and a ”top break” loading system, typical of most flare pistols. Measures 12 1/2 inches overall, with a 9 inch barrel.
Unusual, hard to find, and very attractive, making a perfect Great War collectible.
