Description

Mauser, Kingdom of Siam, Model 46 1903 pattern, bolt action rifle in 8x52R caliber. This has the Chakri Dynasty crest on receiver, a 29.5″ barrel with a very good somewhat dark bore, the sliding steel receiver cover, and a satin blue refinished metal with some rubs and freckles. Stock is the one-piece wood with some dents and dings and has a steel buttplate with sliding trap cover (quite stiff), and the extended Arisaka style tangs. Originally chambered in 8x50R and re-chambered in the early 1920s to 8x52R to use the more powerful spitzer pattern Type 66 cartridge, with modified rear sight range scale for the new chambering. includes cleaning rod and vintage leather military sling. Overall very good condition

These were German Mauser 98 style rifles with some Arisaka design elements, ordered by Siam (modern day Thailand) from the Koishikawa arsenal Tokyo Japan. No import marks pre-1968 importation, with no serial number in arabic numerals. C&R eligible.
