Original Item: Only One Available. This is a like new mint condition New Old Stock example of a World War Two production issue Stainless Steel Case Elgin Model 15-Jewel wrist watch, with a stainless steel screw back closure. Offered in like new condition the watch has been tested and runs smoothly. It was manufactured for the US Army, and has a white face with black numbers for daylight use. ELGIN is marked on the dial face. The leather band is also a New Old Stock original WWII period manufactured example, and features a fantastic face cover.

During WWII, Elgin supplied watches for the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps [the Air Force was the Army Air Force]. In 1940, the Ordnance Department published the requirements for military watches. The list includes pocket, wrist, and stop watches.Marking on the case reads:

ORD.DEPT.U.S.A.NO. OFA – 12914

The Ordnance Department numbers each watch with letters which signify the grade of the watch and the service to which it issued, followed by the ordnance serial number marked plainly on the exterior back of the case. This serial number is the only number referred to in identifying an ordnance timepiece.
