Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a heavily worn and cut-down Model 1913 Cavalry Saber, commonly referred to as the “Patton Saber.” It is missing the guard entirely, appearing to have been removed during the period. It is crisply marked on the ricasso:

SA

1914

and on reverse ricasso:

US

17633

Like most that we have seen, this example was made at the legendary Springfield Armory in Springfield, Mass. This was the primary center for the manufacture of United States military firearms from 1777 until its closing in 1968. It was the first federal armory and one of the first factories in the United States dedicated to the manufacture of weapons.

Blade condition is very good, with a nice patina, and only a few nicks on the edge with some oxidation spotting. There are a few areas of light pitting and staining, however the majority is still a lovely bright steel. The canvas on the scabbard is in rather poor condition, having been repainted green. The grip is in fine condition, and the cut can be seen at the pommel where the guard was cut off.

A nice cut-down example of the iconic Patton Saber, ready to display!
