Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a charming Military Musket, probably dating tom 1810 to 1816, which has been shortened to a carbine length, 45” in overall length with a 29” barrel. This musket probably started life in a State Militia, as many of these were constructed using ”trade” flintlocks from England. It was then later converted to percussion, the frizzen with pan removed, and the hammer replaced. It however still bears the original British markings:

J. ROSEWARRANTED

James Rose was a Gun Maker in Birmingham, England who set up practice around 1810. He supplimented his income by supplying Trade Percussion locks around 1830 for shipment to the United States, for the use of local American gun smiths working in the 13 states or on the frontier.

Fully cleaned and most attractive, ready to display!
