Original Polish Model 1952 Air Force Technical Services Dress Dagger with Scabbard – No. 7884

Original Item: Only One Available. Following the Allied Victory in WWII, Poland unfortunately was quickly turned into a communist state due to the machinations of the occupying Soviet forces. The Polish government in exile was ignored, and a new government was formed by the communist party, with rigged elections ensuring a landslide. The armed forces were re-organized, and the earlier 1920’s design dress daggers were redesigned.

This is a very nice example of a Communist-Era Polish Model 1952 Air Force Technical Service Officer’s Dress Dagger. The fittings are all of silver-plated brass, and have a great patina. It has an simulated stone colored handle, probably made of celluloid, which is in great shape with some nice age toning. The pommel has a large Polish National Eagle, which does not have a crown and is the wider version seen, indicating it is a Communist era dagger.

The black leather covered scabbard has silver-plated brass fittings, and has the Polish Air Force Technical Services branch logo, which is a lovely white and translucent red enameled checkerboard diamond. There is a lock button on the reverse of the handle, which locks into the scabbard top fitting. Both hanger rings are in very good shape, and the leather is great, with a nice finish, and just a small area where the finish has flaked.

The blade is in very good condition, and is quite bright, possibly nickel-plated. There is the usual runner wear, but otherwise it shows the original factory texture quite nicely. The blade is stamped 7884, a somewhat low number. This was most likely made in the 1950s or 1960s.
